Qualifications/Professional Enrolments
- Graduated in Science from Utkal University in the year 1974 and obtained LL.B degree with Diploma in Taxation from Lucknow University in the year 1977.
- Enrolled as an Advocate in 1978 with bar council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
Professional Experiences
- Practiced in the High Court of Gauhati and subordinate courts in Civil, Criminal as well as Service and Constitutional matters in the High Courts and Supreme Court of India.
- Designated as Senior Advocate on 28.01.1994 and was one of the youngest Advocates designated as Senior Advocate in the history of High Court of Gauhati.
- Participated successfully in different commissions on behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Police Department, Government of Manipur etc.
- Appointed as Advocate General of Manipur at the Cabinet rank from 14.01.1998 to 27.03.2001.
- Served as Legal Advisor of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) and the Manipur University for a number of years.
- Elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 25.11.2004. Became permanent Judge with effect from 27.02.2006.
- Appointed as Executive Chairman, Manipur Legal Services Authority from 01.03.2008 to 22.03.2013.
- The Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya on 23.03.2013 after establishment of the High Court of Meghalaya.
- Appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shillong and continuing till the date of demitting the office of the Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya i.e. on 01.02.2016.
- Performed the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya as Acting Chief Justice with effect from 03.08.2013 to 19.09.2013 vide notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice) dated 01.08.2013.
- Again performed the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya as Acting Chief Justice with effect from 13.08.2014 to 26.08.2014 vide notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice) dated 12.08.2014. Again performed the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya as Acting Chief Justice with effect from 15.01.2016 till retirement on 01.02.2016 vide notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice) dated 12.01.2016.
- Demitted the office of the Chief Justice (Acting) of the High Court of Meghalaya on 01.02.2016.
- Appointed a President, Manipur State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on 25.07.2016.
- Appointed to be the Chairperson of the Manipur Lokayukta on 07.05.2019.
- Assumed charge on 19.06.2019.
